Suggestions are made, with reference to international humanitarian law, in respect of the interpretation of terminology and definitions used within the context of the new Act, such as the definitions of 'armed conflict'; 'combatant' and 'taking direct part in hostilities'. International instruments dealing with mercenary activities are referred to.
